Hi, I’m Carrie Sawyer, the creator of the Social Justice Superhero Academy!

I’ve helped hundreds of people learn how to talk about race and social justice issues in a way that helps them to create more inclusion and equity in our world. I love showing people that they have the power to create the change they want to see.

After the death of George Floyd and the explosion of racial unrest around the world, I had many moments of feeling helpless, powerless, and hopeless. I desperately wanted to do something – anything – that would help, even if it was only for a few people. This would be better than sitting, stuck in the pandemic, doing nothing.

In that moment an idea was born, a way that I could help using my unique talents and skills. What if I could answer people’s questions on race and antiracism? At a time when more people than ever had questions AND a desire to take action, what if I could help them do just that?

Is this a course on protesting and marching?

There is more to social justice work than protests and marching! These things are important, don’t get me wrong, but we are not teaching how to organize them here. This course will help you to develop a social justice mindset that you can use in any situation that calls for more inclusion and more equity. We’ll help you to discover your unique social justice superpowers and learn how to turn them on wherever they are needed most.

How long is this online course?

We’ve created an easy-to-follow 4-day action plan that you can slow down OR speed it up as you see fit. Each of the 4 lesson is about 1 hours long, so that's 4 hours total time spent.
